Other Collectibles Sample Pictures
In June of 2004 I attended the Collectors Showcase of America (CSA) show in
Richmond, VA, where I obtained these Yankee greats' autos. Although I was never a
fan of the Yankees as a team, I was a fan of many of their individual players, two of
whom signed here - Whitey Ford and Bobby Richardson. Also signing were Don Larsen, "Bullet"
Bob Turley and Gil McDougald. It was a great thrill for me to meet these all-time legends.
They were friendly and nice - especially Richardson, who insisted on personalizing his auto
for me - except maybe Larsen, who was not very outgoing.
Except for Ford, all the autos are additionally personalized. Richardson says "To Woody, my
best wishes" and notes "60 WS MVP". Turley notes "CY 58". McDougald notes "1951 AL ROY". And
Larsen succintly notes "10-8-56", the date, of course, of his perfect World Series game.
The photos down the center of the display are ones I took. They are (top-to-bottom): Ford,
Ford again, Richardson, Turley, Larsen and McDougald.
This show is second in my favorite collecting moments only to my in-person Eddie Mathews auto. Sadly
the Richmond show no longer exists.
I got the Chipper Jones auto in December 1999 in Richmond, VA at the Tuff Stuff Holiday Classic
show.
The Buck O'Neil auto was from the CSA show at Richmond in June 2003. He seemed to be such a nice man. Buck
passed away in 2006, and he was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame in 2021.
