Our cat Callie
Callie and her brother Fred were rescued by our friend Martha. They came to us in October 1997 when they were two or three months old. They were from a litter of five, I believe.
We named her "Caldonia", from the old jump-blues song of that name - "Caldonia, what makes your big head so hard!". But we always called her "Callie".
Although Fred and Callie were siblings and looked very much alike, their personalities were distinctly different. Where Freddy was very affectionate and friendly to us, Callie was always a little strange and moody, and she was never really very close to us. Her closest friend was Bert, and she never really got along with the other cats.
Callie was the last survivor of her litter, and she was also our oldest cat (up till now). Her health declined over her last year or so, and she left us on August 24, 2016, at the age of nineteen.
