Our cat Serena

Serena, who we mostly call Reenie, came to us at Christmas time, December 2005. I found her in the kitten room at the Vets to Cats veterinary clinic. She had been rescued by our friend Martha, as Fred, Callie, Linus and Lucy had all been.

Even though I brought her in, Reenie became Sue's cat. Reenie liked me, but it's clear who was her favorite. Even if Reenie was sitting on my lap, her eyes would be following Sue around the room. She liked to rub her head against my whiskers, and she loved to nibble Sue on the neck.

Reenie was probably the liveliest cat we've had. Even at age 12, she was still very active as shown in the "red dot" video below.

Although she was very loving and friendly, she could be moody (as with most cats), and she didn't mind letting you know when she would just as soon you leave her alone.

Sadly, we lost Reenie on April 9, 2019. While we never knew exactly what was wrong with her, she had pretty much stopped eating and was apparently in pain. We chose not to put her through painful tests which likely as not would not have had good results anyway. So we took her for that last trip to the vet. She is missed and always will be.

Reenie was apparently rescued at a very young age and separated from her mother. Perhaps as a result of that she had a tendency to suck on blankets or articles of clothing. She also loved to "suckle" on her friend, Whitey the stuffed bunny. Reenie and Whitey the Bunny - Click here to play the video.
