1960 Topps Football Sample Pictures
A sort of wild-eyed Unitas was card #1 again. Notable rookie cards include Forrest Gregg,
Tom Brookshier, and (from here in Roanoke) George Preas.
The card backs feature player info and stats, an interesting comment about the player, and
a scratch-off cartoon.
For the second year in a row, Topps printed the card of HOF Packer Jim Taylor with a
picture of the like-named Jim Taylor of the Cardinals. This error was not corrected. Speaking
of Taylor, I'll never forget the last play of the 1960 championship game - Packers vs. Eagles -
when Chuck Bednarek dragged Taylor down just short of what would have been a game winning TD as
time ran out. Bednarek, shown on the card here as a center, was one of the last two-way players. He
also played linebacker.
