Dobro Model 60-8
I'm not sure exactly when I bought my Dobro - possibly in Richmond, VA in 1977 or early '78.

Research indicates it was made in 1976. It's a wooden body round-neck. The serial number is D 663 6, which would indicate it was the 563rd made that year (that's right - they started numbering at 101).

During that period Dobro brand guitars were made by the OMI company which was formed by the Dopyera Brothers (see Wiki for history of dobros).

The only work I've had done on it is to reseat one of the frets which had come loose. I keep the action a little high with pretty thick strings as I generally only play slide on it. During one period I had a detachable raised nut on it and played it lap style.

This is a really pretty guitar with the bright sunburst finish. It has a few dings on the surface but still plays just fine.
